The number of people who negotiate measles in Texas and New Mexico continues to increase against the background of the onset in cases, authorities said.
On Friday, March 28, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) confirmed that 400 cases were “identified since the end of January” in the southern plains and Panhandell regions, according to an update of news, with 41 patients being hospitalized.
The State Agency said that 398 were not unvaccinated from the reported cases, or the status of vaccination was unknown while two were vaccinated with two plus doses.
Most of the cases have affected the age group of 5-17 years with 164 listed, while there are 131 confirmed cases in the age group of 0-4 years, 80 people at 18 years of age and more have taken measles and 25 people are in anticipation, according to the Texas DSHS update.

“There is a fatality in a school -age child who lived in the hearth area. The child was not vaccinated and there were no some basic conditions,” Texas DSHS wrote.
“Due to the highly contagious nature of this disease, additional cases are likely to emerge in the area of the outbreak and surrounding communities.
Neighboring New Mexico reported 44 cases on Friday, March 28, according to the Ministry of Health in New Mexico. The agency claims that four of those affected were vaccinated with at least one dose, while 32 were not vaccinated and the status of vaccination of eight people was unknown.

“The best way to prevent illness is to immunize with two doses of measles vaccine, which is used mainly as a combined measles-blunt vaccine. Two doses of the MMR vaccine are very effective in preventing measles,” said Texas DSHS on its website.
The State Agency told People on an email on Monday, March 31 that “the number of cases reported last week is more large due to a combination of things, which may include an increase in cases,” adding that “the epidemiology team focuses on the completion of open investigations last week.
“It is too early to say how much of the spring’s spring vacation was to increase the new cases. The first day of the first spring break in Texas was March 10, so today we are at the end of the first incubation period,” the spokesman added.

Pediatrician specialist and infectious diseases Dr. Adam Ratner, author of Booster Shots: Emergency Lessons of Measles and the uncertain future of children’s healthHe told people last month that the outbreak was part of a “disturbing” trend that was linked to a decline in the degree of vaccination after the pandemic.
“This is emblematic of the trends in childhood vaccination, but also in how people think about public health who are disturbing and worried even about people who are not directly engaged in this outbreak,” says Ratner, whose new book is involved in the history of the disease and the vaccine against the measles in the United States.
Prior to the vaccine, between 3 million and 4 million people were infected with measles in the United States each year, according to CDC, and 400 to 500 people were killed annually. In 2000, measles was declared eliminated in the United States
As reported earlier by humans, the non-valed child in Texas, who died last month, marked the first measles death in the United States since 2015.
The CDC did not respond immediately when it contacted people for additional information about the measles outbreak.
