Clarenda Phillips, selected as the next Missouri state provision, said the university’s public issue mission is one of the many reasons she is interested in work.

The new Vice President of Academic Affairs has more than 30 years of experience. She was a provocateur at two other universities.

Phillips is the leading system of Texas A&M University System for re -presenting STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) justice using doctoral studies.

She spent six years as a provocateur and Vice President of Academic Affairs in Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, as well as the same role in Notre Dame of Maryland University from 2016-18.
“I’m glad to serve Missouri because I see a huge potential to redefine the value of higher education together,” Phillips said in the message. “This is a university where people are constantly learning, growing and developing – where we can understand all this and innovate together.”
She added: “With the mission of public issues, we can overcome divisions between different students as we invest in a faculty, covering technology and building partnerships in the community. I am eager to work to guarantee that our graduates have a real change in their communities. “
Phillips was an associated Vice President of Academic Affairs from 2012-16 and chairman of the Sociology, Social Work and Criminology Department from 2007-12 at Morehead State University.

Since 2023, she has worked with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities as the Faculty of the Academy of New Provosites.
He has a bachelor of sociology from the University of Depauw, Master’s and Doctorate in Sociology from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Shampain and Master of Divinity from the Theological Seminary in Asbury.
