The reception season is about to start with Cal Poly, and applications have risen to another new record, exceeding 80,000 for the first time.
About 81,914 students applied for a place at the University of San Louis Obyspo this year, Cal Poly Keegan spokesman told Tribune on Thursday.
This is a 3.6% increase since 2024, which has previously seen the most competitive pool for candidates in the history of the university with a record 79 034 applications.
At that time, Cal Poly had only 8% of the students who applied, with the presence of some specialties immersed below 4%, Tribune reports earlier in May. The average GPA of candidates is 4.05, said spokesman Mat Lazier at the time.
Now, with a new set of records, the hopes of a Mustang can see an even firmer reception process.
Here’s what you need to know:
How difficult is it to get into mud skirts? Some specialties have space for less than 4% of candidates
When will I find out if I was accepted?
The competitive season accepts thousands of students on the edge, wondering if they will be accepted as one of the limited places of the university.
If you are one of these students, when will you find out?
According to Cobberl, all students will understand whether they have been accepted, rejected or waited until April 1 at the latest.
Students have been notified on a basis, but Cobberl has not provided a date for this process to begin. The process can start at any time, but it usually takes most of March.
Also, not all receptions for a particular college or specialty are sent at the same time, so don’t worry if others have heard, but you are not.
Have you entered Cal Poly? Here’s all you need to know when accepting acceptance
Foster letters can usually be seen through the student’s Cal Poly online portal.
For those who are waiting to hear, keep the tabs on your portal and a look at your email. Once you are adopted, the decision deadline is May 1.
The university usually accepts about 30% of candidates, but there is room for much less than that.
Last year, Cal Poly accepted 23,456 students, but only 6192 recorded the Cal Poly Institutional Research dashboard.
If you land on the waiting list, you still have a good chance of logging in.
The university begins to admit from the waiting list, after students who are accepted, choose to go elsewhere and give up their place. This process usually lasts until July 15, but it can last even longer.
If you have any questions, the Poly Poly admission service can be found by email at admissions@calpoly.edu.
Who applied to Cal Poly in 2025?
Cal Poly saw more applications outside the state this year-increased 9.4% compared to 2024, according to Tribune.
The university also raised a 6.8% increase in applications outside the country.
While Cal Poly saw an increase in applications from students in California, he fell below the average impetus of the year to 3%.
In 0.2%, the students in the transfer represent the lowest percentage compared to previous years.
Cal Poly has been working to increase transfer and enrollment applications in recent years, creating partnership programs with local colleges to offer easier paths to the bachelor’s degree for some specialties. However, some transfer students have said more work should be done.
The university also works to increase its recording as a whole – but space remains a key problem. A 4,200 unit housing project is currently underway to help Cal Poly House more campus students.
The university also has a planned budget deficit to help the resources of the enrollment growth funnel.
