Why “old people smell” – and a superfood you can eat to prevent it

There are few smells, more intensely recognizable and absolutely disproves than “old people smell”.

Kenny likens the lipid peroxidation of the rust of the body.

“It’s something of the whole body,” she explained. “The smell comes from a compound called 2 nominally. In principle, sebum is rusty.”

Kenny explains that nutrition, in particular a diet, thick with mushrooms, is crucial for this approach from the inside out to remove the aroma.

The mushrooms are filled with the amino acid ergotione, a powerful antioxidant with anti -inflammatory properties that stops lipid peroxidation before the odor of Oldie is accumulated.

Ergothioneine is reported to make you smell fresh and think straight, as studies suggest that mushroom -rich diets can reduce the risk of cognitive damage by half.

Mushrooms are also an excellent source of spermidine, an organic compound that activates autophagy, the regenerative process that removes damaged cellular components and recycles them to maintain cell renewal.

Autophagy plays a critical role in slowing down aging, prevention of disease, maintaining metabolic efficiency and mitigating mature muscularity.

Kenny told the publication that mushrooms are a preventive and curative medicine.

“As we pass through perimenopause and menopause, we want to try to include more foods rich in ergothion, like mushrooms, to prevent this odor,” she said.

“And if you are older and want to get rid of the smell, mushrooms are a great choice, because, again, they have spermidine that will help the faster turnover of the cells.”
