President Donald Trump He said the US had “too many inoperative holidays”, but he did not deviate from other festive proclamations.
In June’s apparent criticism, Trump said in a Truth social publication on June 19 that the inoperative holidays cost billions of dollars to keep the business closed. Private companies are not forced to close on federal holidays such as June, which celebrates events of June 19, 1865, when the last black people enslaved by the Confederation were ordered free of charge.
Trump focused on the number of federal workers paid in the past, while declaring new holidays.
Trump says “Too many non -working holidays”
Trump’s post on June criticizes the number of federal holidays that most federal workers have as paid holidays. In 2025 there were 12 federal holidays; Most federal holidays are created under legislation adopted through Congress.
But during his second Presidency, Trump issued other festive proclamations that will not be paid for holidays to recognize special days such as:
“We already have too many holidays in America,” he wrote in a social post on May 5, when he announced the holidays for World War II and World War II. “There are not enough days during the year. We were workers then and now we are workers!”

Trump 2025 Truth’s social post did not mention June.
White House press secretary Carolyn Levit was asked by reporters earlier during the day whether Trump is expected to note.
“Today I am not tracking his signature for proclamation,” she replied. “I know this is a federal holiday.”
As of June 20, no proclamation was released from the White House.
Previously, Trump honored June, including in his first term as president. But Trump created a dispute in 2020 after scheduled his first rally after the Covid-19 lock in Tulsa, the Oklahoma-position of one of the worst slaughter of Black Americans in the history of the country-on June. Later, he changed the date of the event.
