The waters of Texas Lake remain wrapped in mystery, as dozens of young men’s bodies continue to withdraw from the depths, placing a community on the edge as the rumors of a serial killer continue to rotate.
Last month, authorities discovered the body of another man in Lady Bird Austin, leading to the total number of huge 38 persons restored by 2022 waters.
Officials responded to 911 calls reporting body in the water on early morning and subsequently discovered the deceased man, according to a police station in Austin (APD) in a statement to Fox News Digital.
A body found in the same Lake Austin, where 6 other deceased persons were found in 2024.
There was no injury to the body and the police did not suspect that a fake game was involved, APD said. The department is currently working to determine whether the restored body is a 17-year-old man reported to have disappeared two days earlier.
The teenager’s family called the police after he left his kayak without wearing a rescue jacket and subsequently disappeared while enjoying the lake day, authorities said. Investigators believe he unknowingly stepped on an underwater shelf and failed to reappear after his kayak was later restored with his backpack and his rescue jacket, still inside.

Police revealed that the individual found in the lake wore the same clothing as the missing teenager, but identification was in anticipation.
The APD did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for a comment on community fears around a serial killer.
Austin serial killer fear: Police pull a car from Lady Bird Lake
The discovery comes as fears of a serial killer lurking in the middle of the community continue to rise above the area, with local authorities continuing to downplay the risk.
“The refusal of law enforcement agencies and other bodies that these cases are the murders or work of a serial killer are premature,” said Dr. Carol Lieberman, a forensic psychiatrist and a witness to an expert court process, told Fox News Digital. “They do not want the public to panic for a possible serial killer, so they extinguish all the deaths.”
Since 2022, at least 38 bodies have been restored in or around Lady Bird Lake, according to data obtained from FOX 7. Of nearly three dozen bodies, 30 were men, with approximately 60 percent between 30 and 49 years.

Despite the local authorities’ insistence that there is no constant risk to the public, Lieberman points to the pure amount of age and gender of the victims.
“The fact that 30 out of 38 bodies discovered in and around Lady Bird Lake from 2022 are men, suggests that this can be the work of a serial killer whose preferred goal is men,” Lieberman said. “If death was simply due to accidental drowning or suicide, there would be no predominance of one gender over the other.”
A common theory circulating throughout the community suggests that death is the result of drug rape medicines entered the beverages of victims visiting bars on the nearby Rainey Street-a popular hot spot for coupons near the water.

In February 2023, Jason John’s body, 30, was withdrawn from the lake one week after being last seen on Rainey Street. Two months later, Jonathan Med, 33, was found one day after he was last seen visiting a food truck parked on the popular street.
“[Date-rape drugs] Can they make them an easy prey for a thief and a killer, ”Liberman said. “Older men could be easy prey.”
In the last three years, the main cause of the death of the bodies withdrawn from Lady Bird Lake has been attributed to accidental drowning, FOX 7 reported. The suicide remains the second leading cause, as well as natural causes and drug overdose.

Of the 38 deaths, only one was driven by murder – with approximately half a dozen cases remain unknown.
“It cannot be ruled out that the so -called” accidental “drowning is not the result of a killer unless there are witnesses,” Lieberman told Fox News Digital. “The killers can use drowning as their own [modus operandi]S In the same way, suicides must be proven, not simply assumed if someone has been depressed. “
Liberman also pointed to the attractiveness of the disposal of human remains in water bodies.

“Water can cause body decomposition and be able to wash evidence, from fingerprints to DNA,” Lieberman said. “If water has movement, such as a river or stream, it can drive the body away from the actual scene of the crime, which makes it more complicated to find the killer. Some murderers choose scenes on a water-based basis in the hope that their murder will be misinterpreted, which can make it difficult because it may be difficult to distinguish.”
In a statement in 2023, APD seemed to extinguish the public’s fears about the possibility of a serial killer aimed at men in the area, citing the dangerous conditions of the lake when mixed with alcohol.

“A common theme of drowning in Austin [in 2023] is the combination of alcohol and easy access to Lady Bird Lake, which has numerous access points, “the department said.
Police said that the greater part of the deaths at that time had occurred after the closure of the park and encouraged community members to take into account local rules.

However, as more and more casualties continue to fall into the waters of Lady Bird Lake, Liberman calls on the authorities not to close their eyes to the painful coincidences surrounding death.
“Unless the law enforcement agencies find any other explanation for the large number of deaths in and around Lady Bird Lake in recent years,” Liberman said. “Then I think the likelihood of a serial killer cannot be ignored.”
