The father’s father raised food, waited for help while the 5-year-old died

A boy from a coma, covered with bruises and cuts, died after his father failed to care for medical attention for nearly two hours.

The child did not get to the hospital until the father of the father stopped taking and delivering food to his boyfriend, Autopsy says. The 5 -year -old Carter Holloway may have survived if his father acts faster, the medical examination concluded.

Carter was one of the three children of Wake County, whose parents were accused of killing in the last three months of 2023.

25-year-old Amir Hines entered the life of his son Carter after being released from prison in mid-2023 after condemning an armed robbery. Carter Tiffany Holloway’s grandmother told The News & Observer that she and Carter’s mother, Madison Holloway, were excited when Hines wanted to spend time with her son.

They started visits to Holloway’s home, gradually allowing Carter to join Hines, his girlfriend and her children on family trips, play dates and visits overnight, Holloway said. At Christmas, Carter went to her first long -day visit with her father, she said.

On New Year’s Eve, Tiffany Holloway called his daughter. Carter-who called “my bop-bop”-was bruised and breathed through a fan at the UNC Rex hospital in roles, she said.

On Tuesday, Holloway told The News & Observer that her family lives a “moment by moment”, visiting groups for therapy and support and trying to support each other as they can, during the trial.

Hines continues to deny that he has done something wrong, she said.

“If he could admit it, it would be some form of – not closing – but I just need it to absorb accountability,” Holloway said.

What happened to Carter?

Carter arrived at the hospital in a coma and showed many hemorrhages and dumb injuries to the force on both sides of the head and brain, the autopsy says. He also had many bruises, cuts and abrasions of his torso, arms and legs, the message said.

Carter was an airline at UNC Children’s Hospital at Chapel Hill for an emergency brain surgery, but died on January 1, 2024, wrapped in a blanket covered with family photos that his grandmother brought.

Hines was accused of first -degree murder and remained at the Wake County County Center, where he was waiting for a trial. He could face prison life if he was convicted of first -degree murder, court documents show.

Hines told officers that his son had fallen from his bike on December 30, 2023 and hit his head on the sidewalk, the autopsy says. Carter did not lose consciousness and continued to ride his bike, he told employees.

The next morning, Hines said he had put Carter in the tub after wetting the bed, the autopsy says. Hines returned to the bathroom after hearing Carter’s autumn, writes. Carter did not lose consciousness, but maybe hit his head again, Hines reports.

He put Carter in bed, checking it at 15:30, a few hours later, says. Hines told the police that Carter was “unaware and limping”, the statement said.

A friend arrived about an hour later to take Hines and Carter to the hospital. They stopped lifting food and letting it with their boyfriend on the way, writes. They arrived at 17:10

Hines has changed parts of his story in subsequent interviews with a child abuse specialist who interviewed the family at the hospital, the autopsy says.

The change of history, interrogated injuries

Carter’s mother told a specialist that she was “shocked by bruises,” the message said. She also reported that Hines was previously “disappointed” with Carter, who was diagnosed with autism.

Other relatives said Carter has returned from a pre -visiting bruise on the side of his head, the autopsy says.

“His father said (this) is from his hit with a toy,” the autopsy reports.

The authors of the autopsy have come to the conclusion that the fall of a motor and the bathtub – or even “behavior of autistic fucking” – can cause some injuries, but not all of them.

“Injuries Affecting Multiple Planes of the Head… are very uncommonly encountered in Accidental scenarios unless involving a particularly Complex, High-f Lychanism Such as a Car Car Car Tall Set of Stails, “Wrote Staff with the Chief Medical Review in Rale.

“Subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhage can be caused by random traumas, such as falling in rare cases in children, but the injury is severely associated with these injuries,” they said.

But even more concerned, they said, is that Hines waited 90 to 130 minutes to receive medical help for Carter and even then stopped taking and delivering food.

“A person with a stable judgment must recognize this as an emergency and called 911. The reaction of the lavings and/or more careful observation than Carter care could potentially save his life,” they said.
