A federal judge postponed a hearing to allow US customs and border guards to respond to allegations that “deliberately” did not obey his order not to deport a doctor of Rod Island until he could review her work.
The documents submitted to the federal court before hearing is claimed that the contents of the D -Rasha Alawi mobile phone led to its detention and the final deportation from Logan’s airport to Boston.
The federal authorities claim that in the court documents filed in the 34 -year -old Alawi deportation case, the customs and border officials have found “nice photos and videos” by the leaders of the Hezbol’s leader on their mobile phone.
They also found “various other Hezbollah fighters” in the deleted photo folder of her mobile phone.
“With the discovery of these photos and videos, CHP interviewed Dr. Alaui and determined that her true intentions in the United States could not be determined,” the documents say.
“Because such CBP has canceled its visa and considers it to be inadmissible to the United States.”
On Friday, US District Judge Leo T. Sorokin in Massachusetts issued an Alawieh deportment order without notifying the court of 48 hours.
Despite their order, the brown medical doctor and the Lebanese citizen went to Paris on Friday night. Alawich returned to Lebanon on Sunday morning, a friend and colleague said.
Dr. Rasha Alawi, a brown medicine doctor who was recently deported to Lebanon, despite the federal court order.
US Customs and Border Protects Respond to D -R Alawich’s deportation
On Sunday evening, for the first time since the incident began on Thursday and lit a wave of outrage on Alawi supporters, Hilton Beckham, Assistant Commissar on Public Affairs on US customs and border defense (CBP), a statement on the case issued.
Beckham said, “Arriving aliens carry the burden of establishing the admissibility of the United States. Our CBP employees adhere to strict protocols to identify and suspend threats using strict screening, check, strong partnerships for law enforcement and passionate inspection skills to keep threats outside the country. CBP is committed to protecting the United States from threats to national security. “
Alawieh was in the US on a valid H-1B visa
Thomas S. Brown, a lawyer who is involved in immigration and visa questions for brown medicine doctors, said Alawich returns to the United States with a valid H-1B visa, which she recently acquired at the US Consulate in Lebanon.
The H-1B visa allows employers as brown medicine to sponsor highly qualified foreign citizens to work in “special professions”.
Alawih, who has studied and worked in the United States for six years and in Rod Island last July, has worked at Rod Island Hospital, evaluating potential recipients of kidney transplantation and following the progress of these patients after their procedures, said Dr. Giorgi Bailis.
Alawich was deported despite the court order to hold it in the country
On Friday, while Alawieh remained in Logan, her cousin, Yara Chehab, filed a complaint with the US District Court against officials at the US Department of Internal Security and US Customs and Border Protection.
In the complaint, Chehab stated, [her] access to their advice. “
On a subsequent proposal filed on Saturday, Alawih’s lawyers claim that “that customs and border patrols have received a real notice of the court order [giving the court 48 hours’ notice before any deportation] Nevertheless, then “deliberately” did not obey the order by sending it from the United States. “
“These allegations,” Sorokin said on Sunday in his order, “are supported by a detailed and specific timeline in an underwater application filed by a lawyer.”
The judge orders the employees before the court to explain the deportation
Sorokin ordered the federal authorities “to respond to these serious allegations with a legal and factual answer, exposing its version of the events. This response is also to come by 8:30 am Monday, March 17, 2025, so that it is available to the court and in the petition before hearing on Monday. “
This hearing has already been postponed.
Alawieh deportation comes against the backdrop of increasing reports on Trump administration, retaining people who return to the United States and hold green cards and visas.
Her supporters have scheduled a protest for Monday at 6:00 pm in front of the State House.
