Police have arrested a suspect in a deadly crash that killed a boy from Atascadero.

A makeshift memorial filled with candles and flowers marks the place on Saturday, where an Atascadero boy was killed in collision with blows and running the previous day.
And while police seized a pickup truck, which they believe it was the participating vehicle, they have not yet made any arrests, according to police chief Daniel Sutles.
“I know there have been some reports that some arrests have been made in connection with this, and this is just not the case,” STSS told Tribune on Saturday morning. “We are still investigating, we are still working and we will continue, but at the moment there are no arrests regarding this hit and running from the police station.”
Shortly before 3:00 pm on Friday, police received a child report that had been hit on the sidewalk on the north side of El Camino Real, in front of the Danish Care Center.
Atascadero CMDR. Robert Mole told Tribune that the boy was on the sidewalk against La Costa Lane when a gray pickup turns on the sidewalk, hit the child, and then left.
Later, the videos posted on the Antlea Atascadero page on Facebook by user Lara Alexandra Deleon showed a charcoal-colored pickup that pulls away from the Hidden Oux Village apartment complex, escorted by police.
“They seem to have found the truck in my apartment complex,” she wrote. “It looks like a Ford, but it has toned windows and broken light.”

On Saturday, police confirmed that the vehicle, identified as the Ford F-150 of 2003, was suspected of being involved in the crash. Police said it was abandoned behind an apartment a building several blocks from the scene of the crash.
Although police have detained the vehicle and despite the sharing of rumors online, the police have not yet identified a suspect, and ATASCADERO spokesman Terry Banish said no arrests had been made.
“This investigation remains actively, the Atandroero Police Department is seeking additional public assistance,” the newspapers said on Saturday.

On Saturday, visitors and family members stopped to give their respect to the memorial to the sidewalk where the boy was hit.
A relative said the family lived in an apartment complex, north of the site, but members who stopped at the memorial still do not want to talk.
Longtime resident of Atascader Tai Murray stopped with his 11-year-old grandson Talon Dowti.
“I just felt really bad,” Murray said when he asked him why he came. “I cannot imagine the heartbeat that parents have to survive right now.”
“My grandson is his age and he was curious to find out who he was,” he added. “So we just got off to see if we could understand a little more information.”

Talon said he went to school and played football with the boy.

On Friday night, Tom Butler, chief of the school’s Atascadero school, said the boy was a student at the Atlandero Secondary School. Butler sent a letter about the death of parents, guardians and staff.

Butler said on Monday the area would have resources to support all its school sites.

The preliminary investigation showed that the boy was walking north along the sidewalk when the truck hit him from behind.
The Stevists said that the 11-year-old was home from the Atanskadero Secondary School with a friend who witnessed the crash and called his mother. Then her mother called the police.
Police closed El Camino Real from Calle Cynthia to San Diego Way while investigating the crash. The boy’s parents were also on stage.
