Madison, wis. (AP) – a group funded by billionaire Elon Musk, offers $ 100 voters to sign a petition as an activist judges, a move that comes two weeks before the state’s Supreme Court election and after the political action committee made a similar proposal last year in the countries of the battleships.
The Musk America Political Action Committee PAC announced the petition in a post of X on Thursday night. He promises $ 100 for each Wisconsin voter who signs the petition and another $ 100 for each signature who is concerned.
The Susan Crawford campaign, the candidate, supported by Democrats for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, said Musk was trying to buy votes before the April 1 election. The offer was made two days after the beginning of the vote in the hotly contested race between Crawford and Brad Shimel, the preferred candidate of Musk and Republicans.
The election winner will determine whether the court remains under liberal control or transferred to a conservative majority.
Musk’s PAC uses almost identical tactics before the November presidential election, offering to pay $ 1 million a day to Wisconsin voters and six other countries on the battlefield that signed a petition to support the first and second changes.
The Philadelphia District Attorney has brought a case in an attempt to suspend payments under the Pennsylvania Act. But a judge said prosecutors have failed to show that the efforts are an illegal lottery and are allowed to continue during the election day.
America Pac and Building for America’s Future, two groups of Musk Funds, have spent more than $ 13 million, trying to help choose Shimel, according to Tally from the Brennan Justice Center. The winner will determine whether conservative or liberal judges control the court, with key battles outlining abortions, public sector unions, voting rules and congress boundaries.
Crawford’s campaign spokesman Derrick Hroman has accused Musk of “trying to buy a place in the Supreme Court of Wisconsin to provide a favorable decision in his company against the state.”
Just days before Musk groups began spending the Supreme Court race, Tesla’s electric car maker filed a lawsuit against Wisconsin for his decision not to allow him to open dealers. Musk is the CEO of Tesla, as well as the head of the SpaceX missile ship manufacturer. Tesla’s case can eventually come to the Supreme Court.
“It is very important to vote Republican for the Supreme Court in Wisconsin to prevent voting fraud,” Musk published, only eight days before the case was brought in January.
Andrew Romeo, a PAC spokesman for American, cited the X’s publication, which announces the petition when he asked for a comment on Friday. Shimel’s spokesman did not immediately answer an email looking for a comment.
Crawford and her allies have made the bind of Shimel with Musk a key board from their campaign. The Wisconsin Democratic Party has launched a new ad this week, accusing Musk of trying to buy the place for Shiml, a close ally of Trump/ of Trump/
Shimel earlier this week held a campaign with Donald Trump, Jr. at an event where the president’s son said the election of Shimel was essential to protect Trump’s agenda. America Pac also makes this argument in Flyers, which he distributes to the voters of Wisconsin.
The other group of Musk building the future of America said in a note on Thursday that in order to defeat Crawford, he must “present Shimel as a pro-Trump conservative.”
The new petition says that “judges must interpret laws as written rather than rewrite them to meet their personal or political programs. By signing below, I reject the actions of the judges of activists who impose their own views and asking a judicial system that respects its role – interpretation, not legislation.”
The petition, although intended to collect data on Wisconsin voters and energize them, is also in line with President Donald Trump’s agenda, claiming that “activists” judges illegally work against him. The Trump Administration has been woven into several lawsuits related to the efforts of the Musk Ministry to reduce federal bureaucracy.
