Lee, a four -time Danville city adviser and a father of two, was strewn with gasoline and set on fire in front of his workplace on Showcase A magazine on Tuesday, July 29, with a shocking attack with wide -day light. His alleged striker, 29-year-old Scots Michael Buck Hayes, fled, but was arrested shortly after, according to a Danville police station.

In a statement included in Gofundme – which has collected over half of his $ 100,000 goal since August 3 – Blair said, “Lee is a fighter. He is always facing challenges with courage, determination and an unbreakable spirit.”

Police respond to the attack on July 29 after 11:30 am local time after messages of a man on fire outside the offices of Showcase Main Street, according to DPD. Witnesses said a man had entered the building with a large bucket, poured gasoline on Lee and lit it until he was running out.

Lee was treated at the scene and transferred to a burn center. Andrew Brooks who rules Showcase A magazine said the advisor was “awake, talking on the way to the center in Lynchburg” – and is able to identify his attacker.

Later, police identified the suspect like Hayes and arrested him after he escaped. The officials confirmed that Hayes and Lee were known and that the incident stems from a personal rather than a political issue.

“It was no accident, nor was it politically motivated,” DPD said in a statement.
