Investigators in Idaho have discovered a mix of DNA by three people under the 21-year-old Idaho Nail Industrial University after she and three friends were killed at their home outside the campus in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022, according to court files.
Bull Barlow, a defender who specializes in the DNA attack attack and who has recently been added to Brian Kohberger’s suspicious team, wants to limit the nail scrap testimony in the process.
She says they don’t match her client.

In a pair of edited proposals on evidence, she claims that since testing samples returned unconvincingly, focusing on them may mislead the jury. She also claims that independent defense tests have excluded Kochberger entirely as an associate.

Barlow cites highly edited testimony by Jade Miller, who discussed samples restored under Mogen’s left hand nail. Although the specifics of what Miller said are not included in the publicly available submission, Barlow claims that her testimony is misleading and therefore prohibited under state legislation.

In addition, the presence of unknown DNA can support the theory of defense that unknown persons leave it there – a problem that has already lifted the protection against the blood samples found on a railing in the home and a glove outside.

Mogen, a marketing specialty from Coeur d’Alene, was killed with his best friend Kylie Gonkalvs, 21 years old, in a room upstairs of a six-bedroom house, just retires from the campus. Police also found a knife knife under her body, which had a DNA on him, which helped them reveal Kohberger as a suspect.

Idaho’s crime laboratory had tested two hypotheses: first, the samples included DNA from Mogen, Goncalves and an unknown person, and secondly that DNA comes from Mogen and two unknown persons.
Many people seem to have been tested as possible coincidences with unknown persons. None of the results were a definite match for anyone.
Police say Kohberger has visited the home area repeatedly, citing mobile phones and video of the suspected vehicle – a white Hyundai Elantra as the one that has been drawn repeatedly.

His process is scheduled to start on August 11 and he may face the death penalty if convicted.
Latah John Judge County Judge did not face guilty requests on his behalf in his decision in May 2023.
