Doctors and nurses call the general ‘lies’ you have to stop believing, and it’s shocking

For a while, we wrote a publication in which doctors and nurses revealed that it often hides that people should not believe more. In the comments, they called even more misconceptions-and this is a great eye opening. Here’s what they had to say:

1“Folding or wet will not give you a cold. The colds are caused by the shrinking viruses by other people – not by cold or wet. We are inside and around other people in winter, causing more colds in winter.”

2.“Sugar does not make the children be hyper. There is no such thing as a tide of sugar. Children become hyper from being at a party and enhanced by the environment.”

3“[It’s a lie that] Health insurance companies follow the best medical practice. Just because the treatment is taken into account as effective or approved by the FDA and is indicated for your illness does not mean that it will be covered by your insurance for your medical problem. In general, new and more expensive treatments and tests will be refused for the first time or your doctor will be grilled and tortures before they can get it for you. “

“Another common tendency is for insurance representatives to tell the patient that the doctor” did not provide enough information “or” just have to make a 10-minute phone call. ” In my 20 years of experience, I did not have a 10-minute call call, except when I stay and turn off. Appeals are usually a multi -stage battle and every success is a lottery. “

4.“A pediatrician here. Young women … We don’t judge you. I’ve seen everything and what’s happening to you, I won’t surprise me or shock. I just want to keep you and guarantee that you have every opportunity to fulfill your dreams, but I can’t do it if you don’t allow me to help you.”

5.“Doctors and nurses do not perform laboratory tests. This depends on the completely behind -the -scenes team of specialists, without whom the patient targeting the patient will only guess. We at the laboratory often receive calls from nurses and doctors asking what certain results of the test mean.”

“Most lab technologies can diagnose and even recommend the right antibiotic for UTI without seeing the patient at all.”

6.“Azithromycin (” Zpak “or Zithromax) is an antibiotic and will not cure your cold. Colds are viruses. No, you have no sinus infection after two days of congestion. Please inform the country at 18-35 years old.

“Ask every emergency provider what their most common patient is and all of them will tell you URI (disease/infection of the upper respiratory tract), which is 99.99% of the time viral and will usually resolve on its own !!! [Unless symptoms worsen or do not improve]Stop, stop, stop going to emergency care and especially for colds !!!!! “

7.“Er supplier. We hate waiting times as you are. When ER is busy, and you wait hours to see, try to change your perspective and be grateful for the wait. People who do not wait, die or near it.

We are crowded because the government does not provide adequate resources for people who have a mental illness; When people enter, who are suicidal or violent, we have to keep them in EP, occupying a bed, sometimes for days as they wait to access one of the few mental health beds available in the surrounding community. And many times such patients require one in one that just sits and watches them 24/7 to make sure they are not injured. When the unlicensed staff who usually does it is not available to sit, we have to get the paramedics and nurses to do so instead – further emphasizing the resources of the department.

We are crowded because you came on Monday. Do not go to the EP on Monday unless you are legally ill or die. Otherwise, plan to wait hours. Instead, make an “emergency” on Saturday morning. Similarly, make your urgency at the beginning of the day if possible. Most ERS have only one or two suppliers for the whole department at night! I work in a large, 4050 beds ER and from 1 in the morning6 in the morning, these are only two of us – one MD and one PA for all beds plus the waiting room. Come early in the morning when there are more staff.

Another reason your waiting time is so long because not all services are available in any hospital. If you come to see me for a legitimate reason that needs specialized attention, you may need to transfer you to our main hospital where ENT, the ophthalmologist, the pediatric specialist, Hand Hurgeon, etc., can see you. This means that you sit for hours waiting for an ambulance to transfer you, and the bed you are in is blocked until you leave. Meet the hospitals in your area. If you have an emergency, do not go to ER to a hospital that does not serve ophthalmologists to call, etc.

Finally, if you eventually return to a room, be nice to us! While you are eagerly scrolling your phone, we did our best to give time to each person and attention they deserve – while working hard so that we do not rush or miss something that can lead to mistake or harm. We shouted, cursed in, sometimes we spin or spit. We have provided bad news or managing crises. Show your ER doctors, applications (suppliers of sophisticated practices), nurses, radiological staff, technicians, etc., a little grace. “

9.“Taking a few residual antibiotics (it doesn’t matter, you should not have any residues first) you are not better at you -nor does it mean that you now need antibiotics every time you feel sick. You started to feel better because you never had a bacterial infection just because other words, just with other words, just with other words. Antibiotic. “

Antibiotics are for bacterial infectionsNot your virus that lasts longer or makes you feel more evil than you would like. “

10.“If you are coughing or blowing green or yellow mucus, it does not mean that you have a bacterial infection. Green is your white blood cells that respond to something that can be a virus or simple allergies. You don’t need antibiotics just because it turned into color.”

11.“[It’s a myth] This hospice kills patients or speeds up their death. Hospice helps people to experience their remaining lives to the largest extent, providing painless, comfortable death physically, emotionally and spiritually. “

12.“We do not” decide “what to charge you for a joint payment. Your insurance makes over your computer as soon as we invoice the claim. They also determine how many supplies you get (30, 60 or 90 days). And yes, they are allowed to do it because they pay the claim!”

And finally …

13.“The hospital will never give you a blood transfusion based on a blood group found in a medical warning bracelet. The consequences of a blood typing error include death. You will always have a blood group analysis of the hospital before transfusion. (Exception will be the negative blood group given in a truly emerging situation.”
