APD employees found Nieneker in La Costa Court 2400 block after police received a 911 call, according to Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis.

“I believe the topic came out of the car, another person called, I don’t know what the behavior is at that moment,” Davis said during a press conference on Monday night. She also offered condolences to victims and their families.

“This is a very sad day for Austin. A very sad day for all of us and my condolences go out to the families,” said Davis. “Our thoughts are with the family. It’s a tragic time. Our thoughts are with officers and EMS and fire that have to come and do the work here at the scene, forensics, all who make the scene.”

Davis explained that targeted customers were evacuated to a nearby pet supply store for everyone’s safety.

“I was inside the store, but then I hear on the radio as” shots fired “, so then they just told us an” active shooter “… so we just ran out. We told the guests to get out, “said the target employee Freen Sagastum.” I thought it happened only in the news and other things, and then like I just froze at the beginning, but then I saw everyone running. “

Customers were asked by APD to provide alternative transport away from the scene, as car vehicles are considered part of an active crime. In a social media publication, the APD said vehicles could be taken at 10:00 pm on Monday.

“We want to empty the store and unite them again and take them out of here if they did not witness the scene. But the cars will have to stay here until we finish the stage,” Davis said.
