Little Rock, Ark. (AP) – A teacher who claims to have admitted that he has stabbed a fatal couple who did not know who have tourism with two of his children in the Arkansas state park is expected to appear on Friday.
The 28 -year -old Andrew James McGan has been charged with two allegations of a capital murder on Saturday of the murder of Clinton David Brink, 43 -year -old, and Kristen Amanda Brink, 41. He is held without a relationship and is expected to appear at the Washington County Center.
Arkanzas State Police Colonel Mike Hagar said authorities were trying to set a motive for the devil’s day, a 2,500 acres (1000 hectares) near Western fork, about 140 miles (220 kilometers) northwest of Little Rock, the capital of the state. His paths have been closed to the public since Saturday.
State police arrest McGan on Wednesday in a barber shop in Springdale, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of the park, said Major Stacey Rhodes, commander of the Department of Criminal Investigation Division.
Washington County Prosecutor Brandon Carter said he did not know if McGan had a lawyer or would need a public defender. The Associated Press has left messages in numbers listed for McGan, which has no criminal record.
The officials said the husband was stabbed first, approximately half a mile (0.8 kilometers) in the park, after which the mother introduced her children to safety before returning to help her husband. She was also stabbed to death.
The authorities did not say whether the girls – aged 7 and 9 – witnessed that both their parents had been killed. They have not been hurt and take care of family members, authorities said.
McGan was cooperative during the arrest and admitted that he had killed the couple shortly after, Rhodes said. Police also coincide with DNA with blood found at the crime scene. The case is even difficult to police.
“In the 27s, when I was with the state police, it was probably one of the most abundant we had, especially the aspect of how accidental it was,” Rhodes said.
Police flooded with advice
McGan was arrested after a five -day search and hundreds of tips.
State police collected photos and videos from other tourists who did not witness the attack but were on the paths around the same time. Police also released a composite sketch and a photo showing a person who was of interest in the back.
The police then narrowed the suspect vehicle, which had a tape above the registration plate, using householders and businesses near Devil’s Den.
Within an hour, McGan was identified as a suspect, he was caught in the barber shop.
Carter pointed out that the state would allow the jurors to award McGan to the death penalty.
Suspect teaches in other states before working in Arkansas
McGan has active licenses for teaching in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma, according to every relevant website for government certification. None of these countries have any violations or suspensions. The Associated Press addressed the three state educational agencies.
McGan was placed on administrative leave in the spring of 2023 while he was hired in Donald’s elementary school in Flower Mound, Texas, “After concerns about the management of the classroom, professional judgment and favoritism of students,” according to a spokesman for the independent school area Lewisville.
Sierra Markum, whose son was in McGan’s fourth grade, said the teacher came across “quite cold” and “uninterested in his students.” Marcum said her son had returned from a school upset by some of McGan’s behavior, which she told the school principal.
McGan resigned from the publication of Lewisville in May 2023, according to a statement in the area.
He also taught in a small school in Oklahoma from the summer of 2024 to May this year. He resigned to take a job in another country, according to a statement by Sand Springs public schools near Tulsa. The area said McGan had passed all the inspections.
Law enforcement authorities have not contacted Sand Springs public schools about the investigation, said Lisa Chideter, spokesman.
McGan had not yet started his new job in Arkansas in Springdale public schools, said Jared Cleveland, a district chief. He said the area could not provide more information, citing the investigation.
The victims have just arrived in Arkansas
The Brinks and their three daughters have recently moved from southern Dakota to the small town of Prari Grove to Northwestern Arkansas.
Clinton Brink had to start working as a milk delivery driver on Monday, according to his employer in Hland Milk. Kristen Brink was licensed as a nurse in Montana and South Dakota before moving to Arkansas.
The Brink family said the couple died “Heroes protecting their little girls.”
