Food transmitted disease affects tens of millions of Americans every year, leading to expensive trips to the Emergency Department and massive products reminders – now the group has identified the most risky foods on the market.
About 48 million are painful, 128,000 go to the hospital and approximately 3,000 people die each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Food -carried disease costs Americans approximately $ 75 billion in medical assistance, lost productivity and premature death, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The five best germs causing deaths are Salmonella, Toxoplasma Gondii, Listeria, Novorvirus and Campylobacte -with salmonella as the biggest on the list.
After a particularly performed year, as related cases, they grow with a reported quarter, a new Consumer Reports report identifies 10 foods that you may want to avoid because of the risk of food poisoning. Here’s what’s on the list:

Last year, an epidemic of Listeria related to Delis meat led to more than 60 cases and 10 deaths in 19 states.
Some groups, including pregnant women and adults, are more vulnerable to listeria. It can cause a gentle intestinal disease, leading to diarrhea and vomiting. Alternatively, this can lead to an invasive disease, which means that the bacteria have spread beyond the intestine. The associated symptoms include fever, flu and even seizures. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics, depending on the severity of the patient’s condition.
“Even when there are no continuing outbreaks of Listeria, women who are pregnant, aged 65 or more years or have a weakened immune system, should avoid delicacies or heat it to an internal temperature of 165 degrees or until they are hot to kill any germs,” says CDC.
Cucumbers
Cucumbers were recalled this month after people in 15 states were infected with salmonella. No death has been reported, but there are nine hospitalizations and 26 cases.
Most people recover from exposure without treatment for about a week. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps.

Raw dairy products
The outbreak of raw dairy products are related to salmonella, E. coli and campylobacter.
“Drinking or eating products made from raw milk can expose people to germs such as Campylobacter, Cryptosporidium, E. Coli, Listeria, Brucella and Salmonella,” according to CDC.
Children under the age of five, adults over 65, pregnant women and people with weakened immune system are at a higher risk of serious illness.
Against the background of continuous distribution, bird flu H5N1 is also a problem with raw dairy products.
Cottia and cheese from fresco
The outbreak of Listeria in February 2024 was tied to a fresco of Queso and Cotija.
This hearth led to two deaths and 26 cases.

This was before the deficiency of eggs, bound to the spread of bird flu.
Onion
Last year’s E. E. Car Epidemic was tied to the onions served in McDonald’s hamburgers.
One person was killed and had more than 100 cases reported in 14 states.
Symptoms usually start up to four days after ingestion of bacteria, leading to stomach cramps, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Most people recover without treatment in a week.
