Stored deep into the cave in Western Texas, archaeologists have discovered what is probably the oldest intact weapon system ever in North America.

Approximately 6500-year-old pieces include spear shafts, arrow tips and a deadly boomerang.

Experts believe the cave was a type of depository used to repair ancient weapons.
A collection of 6 500-year tips for wooden arrows found deep in the Texas Cave, probably at some point in their use, designed to be littered with poison. These arrows are only part of an ancient hunting set discovered by archaeologists – probably the oldest intact weapons that have ever been found in North America.
Found in the Big Band National Park, about 30 miles from the US border with Mexico, archaeologists received a rare view of the life of ancient hunters when they discovered the pieces of instruments and weapons left untouched for thousands of years, according to a message from the Big Band Studies.
The hunting set-in pristine state, such as 6500-year-old six-point hiding place with stone fingers, four tips of hardwood (these were the ones to be immersed in poison) partial dill known as Atlet, Darth pieces designed to be connected to the Atlet, and the folded antiolop.
“If it’s really a contemporary kit, it’s a pretty monumental find,” Brian Schroder, Director of the Big Band Research Center, told Bryon Schroder, director of the Big Bend Studies Center Texas Parks and Wildlife MagazineS “We get these incredible pictures of life, vignettes about how they lived, what the environment is and how they reacted to it.”
The ends have long been around the cave system, but archaeologists at Sul Ross State University and the University of Kansas have found a place that they said they were not concerned. “We quickly realized that really, really, really deep in that part of the site,” Schroeder told New York TimesS “The reason we were there was to find really old things. So we continued to go deeper.”
In the end, the team entered a partially demolished cave, which included artifacts, a pile of preserved human waste and remains of a small fire. “We were just stunned because I have never even seen these things,” Schroeder said, noting that the site is probably a place for hunters to repair damaged weapons. “One came to the back of the cave and went through his piece hunting by piece,” It’s good. It’s not good. I have to process this leather bag a little. “And then they continued on their way.
The Darth delivery system was not complete, but there were enough pieces that experts think they knew what it looked like. Initially, partial atlate is thought to be the oldest in North America, and a study in Big Bend Studies Magazine He emphasized this part of the find, but a little older was discovered in Utah after the publication of this study. However, this is probably the oldest collection of weapons found in North America, as other parts of the arrow system (including the peaks of stone and wood) were connected to Atlatl and some were still embedded in the shafts.
Once known as a rabbit rod, a straight-out flying boomerang, discovered as part of the collection, is also a deadly weapon and one of the oldest known finds of this species. Not like a toy designed to return to the thrower, Boomerang was a weapon object, sturdy enough to get a small game.
“They heated a green sapling branch on hot coal until the boiling juice and steam come out both ends, then lean it around shape to cool and dry and work on a plane,” said Devin Petigry, an anthropology assistant and an ancient weapon expert, Sul Rosa, Texas Parks and Wildlife MagazineS “With great use, the effects worsen the cracks, while the weapon eventually split in half.”
The antelope’s folded skin was probably either a bag or a piece of clothing. He even had hair on him when they were found. “Someone folded what hid and sat at the top of this rock,” Schroeder said. “And no one touched him for 6000 years.”
The team still needs to analyze the rest of the weapons and plans to study human waste in order to understand both diet and DNA. “It’s kind of rare,” said Petriu, “To get this kind of perspective on ancient people.”
