Two British tourists among four killed after crashes on cabs on Naples

It is estimated that two British tourists are among the four people killed when he clicked a cable cable on a cable car and the cabin fell to the ground in southern Italy.

Four tourists and an engineer were aboard the cable car when he was immersed at a “maximum speed” at Woodland in Naples after hitting a pylon on Thursday afternoon, triggering a major rescue operation over bad weather and fog.

Four people were killed while the fifth man, who was thrown out of the cabin, was evacuated by a helicopter in serious condition, mountain rescue services and firefighters said.

The incident happened when the cable car approaches the landing of Monte Fort, Peak about 45 km (28 miles) southeast of the city offering views of tourists of Naples and Vesuvius.

“What happened is an unimaginable and unpredictable tragedy,” says Humberto de Gregorio, chairman of the EAV public transport company, which manages the cable car service on Facebook.

Two of the four killed after the supporting cable, clicked, were British citizens on vacation, according to Italian media. Another was an operator of cable cars from a nearby town, Il Corriere della Sera reported, and the fourth was an Israeli tourist.

Second Israel was wounded and in a stable but serious condition, on Friday the hospital in Naples is treated on Friday.

Vincenzo de Luca, the governor of Campania, told Rainews that the “two tourist couples” were in the cabin when the disaster struck shortly after 15:00 along the cable connecting the city of Castelamare di Stabia in Naples with the top.

Mayor of Castellammare Di Stabia, Luigi Vicinanza, told reporters: “The traction cable broke, the emergency brake down the stream works, but obviously not the one in the cabin that enters the station at the top of the Fito.”

Another cabin stopped in the air near the foot of the mountain, with 16 passengers evacuated one by one with bundles, shows RAI and other media.

De Luke told paradise that fog and strong winds make it difficult to save.

Cable car services have just opened up for the spring and summer season ten days ago, said G -N De Gregorio.

Local media reported that the investigation into the incident was opened by Torre Anunsia prosecutor’s office.

D -de Luke told Rainews during the rescue mission: “The fog and bad weather were hindering operations, but it could have been worse -many lives were saved. The company told us that it was maintained.

“It is likely that the cabin will be lowered at maximum speed and hit the central pylons, now we have to do our best to help the wounded.

“The cable car has been closed for many years, it has been reactivated in 2017 and repair work has been carried out.”

Angelo Lustur, Secretary General of the Union of CGIL, said: “We are facing a tragedy that leaves us breathless and silent.”

Confirming the engineer as one of the victims, he added: “Now is the moment of mourning and silence for the victims of this huge and absurd tragedy. Then it will be time to establish the causes and who is responsible.”

Culture Minister Alessandro Julie expressed his condolences to the victims, saying, “Monte Future is a symbolic place. As a guardian of natural beauty, seeing him today the scene of such a tragedy saddens us deeply.

“Our most sophisticated thoughts go to the affected community and to all who face the consequences of this tragedy.”

In 2021, 14 people were killed in Italy when a cable car connecting the northern Lake Magiore with the nearby mountain was immersed to the ground.
